Hugh Cassidy

Hugh has gained considerable experience working as a Non Destructive Testing Technician over the years.  He started working for British Rail during the eighties as a NDT operator.  This involved ultrasonic testing of thermit welds, rails and switches and crossings.  He progressed during the nineties to become a NDT technician with Premier Hytemp, then known as Premier Alloys, a main supplier to the Oil & Gas Industry.  His main duties included Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle and Dye Penetrant testing of Forgings.

During 2013, he decided to set up a business partnership after many years’ experience of working in a NDT environment.   He then progressed by learning new skills, including Ultrasonic testing of Welds in Plate and Pipe.  He now runs this thriving NDT company with his business partner Robert Anderson.

Robert Anderson

Partner & co-director with Hugh Cassidy started out as an apprentice Foundry Metallurgist in the Taylor Group  Larbert, quickly rising through the ranks to eventually running various departments including furnace, heat treatment and the metallurgical laboratory.

To gain more experience he joined ANI Bradken (North British Foundry) In 1995 where the company policy was to rotate technical personnel in various departments for 3 months at a time. This gave all technicians an insight into all company departments so they could understand how the company functions. In his time with ANI he worked Arc and induction furnaces including AOD vessels, production office, quality assurance, machine shop, NDT department and ended up as a Method Engineer.

A position came up in 1998 at Wyman Gordon as a test technician working in the laboratory where he tested mechanical properties in various alloys for the aerospace industry. His duties included hot & cold tensile, impact, creep and rupture, hardness, macro and micro testing until the department was moved south and subsequently made made redundant as a result.

From 2002 to 2013 he was employed as an NDT technician in a family run business where Robert was a valued member of staff who specialised in the Ultrasonic testing of forging, weldments and Dye Penetrant Inspection qualified to aerospace standard until he resigned to set up this thriving, dynamic NDT company that has enjoyed a steady growth year on year.
